How to explore theory

What is the theory?

Read a few different interpretations of the theory and make notes on any areas you are unsure about so that you can study those further. If a concept is mentioned that you don't understand i.e voyerism, intertextual references then write those down and research them first.

Once you feel you understand the theory write it up in your own words.

WRITING REVIEWS OF THE WORKSHOPS

 

When you are writing a review you are essential answering three key questions:

1)    What was the workshop/task?

2)    What did you learn or what went well and why?

3)    Where could you improve or develop further or what did not work so well and why?

 

Example:

I took part in a Composition and Framing task. We were organised in to small groups and given a theme. My theme was life and death. We investigated certain techniques for improving composition and framing for example: negative space – a photo can be made more visually appealing by simply shooting the point of reference off centre with little visual distraction from the side.

Our group took the following photos which demonstrated the techniques we learnt.

(Detail the techniques used in each shot and how successful the final images were)

I now feel I have a much better understanding of how to create more aesthetically appealing footage.
